The slashed zero, the mark of this site. On IBM hardware the digit zero came with a dot in the middle; the slash was something you typed over it, a zero struck through with a solidus so nobody would read a letter. Here it is redrawn at forty-eight columns with half-block characters, the same trick that carries moiré and signal. The small one at the top of every page is not a picture but the ø of the PxPlus IBM XGA-AI font itself, drawn at exactly twice its cell size.
